Dexamethasone (DXMS) was first synthesized in 1957 and listed in the World Health Organization’s standard list of essential medicines. It is one of the essential drugs in the basic public health system.
On June 16, 2020, the WHO stated that the results of preliminary clinical trials in the United Kingdom showed that dexamethasone can save the lives of severely ill patients with new coronary pneumonia. For patients using ventilators, the mortality rate can be reduced by about one third. Patients who only take oxygen can reduce their mortality by about one-fifth.
In October 2020, the World Health Organization announced that the latest research results on drugs involving new coronary pneumonia showed that Remdesivir and others have little effect in preventing the death of patients with new coronary pneumonia or shortening the length of hospitalization. Dexamethasone is still the only severely ill patient with new coronary pneumonia. Effective drugs
dexamethasone as analgesic：Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics can enhance the ulcer-causing effect of glucocorticoids. It can enhance the liver toxicity of acetaminophen. Aminoglutethimide can inhibit the function of the adrenal cortex, accelerate the metabolism of dexamethasone, and shorten its half-life by 2 times.
